CLEP The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a national system of credit by examination. CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the country. The program, sponsored by the College Board, offers 34 exams that correspond to specific college courses. Detailed test descriptions, sample questions, answers and other useful test preparation for candidates can be obtained online for a small fee on the CLEP website or by purchasing The Official Study Guide for the CLEP Examinations. The following fees, test dates, examinations and respective credit granted is specific to the University of Arizona only. To acquire the above information for another institution, please contact them directly. Please note the CLEP exams must be taken by UA students prior to the completion of 55 units. Transfer students must take CLEP exams before finishing 55 units or before completing two semesters at the UA. You will receive your personal unofficial score report immediately following your test. However, CLEP states that it can take up to three weeks for your designated school to receive the results. Students enrolled in their first language class (102, 201, or 202) may take the CLEP exam to earn additional language credit. However, the CLEP exam must be taken before the end of the 7th week of the fall or spring semester, in order to earn credit for lower level courses in that language.
