Tests Offered - Alphabetized list

The University of Arizona has approximately 35,000 students. The University of Arizona Testing Office offers a wide variety of testing services to the UA community as well as Tucson and the surrounding areas. The Testing Office is a member of the National College Testing Association and the Consortium of College Testing Centers.

ACE

American Council on Exercise Examinations

ACE's fitness programs is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Currently, the University of Arizona Testing Office is the only testing center in Tucson, Arizona who administers the ACE exams. The closest testing center after UA is in Phoenix and then San Diego.

ACT

American College Testing

The ACT (American College Testing Program) is a standardized exam in the United States. It is accepted by all four-year universities and colleges. The exam tests proficiency in English, Math, Reading and Science.

ANCC

American Nurses Credentialing Center

The ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) is a credentialing organization that validates nurses' skills, knowledge, and abilities.

CAPT

Center for the Advancement of Process Technology

Center for the Advancement of Process Technology (CAPT) supports development of chemical manufacturing, refining, oil and gass production.

CHES

Certified Health Education Specialists

Certified Health Education Specialists are offered in April and October each year through the UA Testing Office. There are two locations where the CHES exam is offered in Arizona, the UA Testing Office and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. San Diego State University in San Diego, CA.

CLEP

College-Level Examination Program

CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the country. The College-level Examination Program (CLEP) is a way to earn college credits without formally enrolling in courses.

GRE

Graduate Records Exam

The GRE® General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills that are not related to any specific field of study.

The GRE® Subject Tests gauge undergraduate achievement in eight specific fields of study and can help forecast a candidate's potential for success in graduate school. Each Subject Test is intended for students who have majored in or have extensive background in that specific area.

GMAT

Graduate Management Admission Test

The Graduate Management Admission Test(GMAT) is a standardized assessment, that helps business schools assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management.

Hebrew Exam

The Hebrew credit by exam tests are optional tests, and are taken by students who want to receive credit for Hebrew that they have studied elsewhere. These tests are not exams to determine placement in on-going Judaic Studies Hebrew courses.

IELTS

International English Language Testing System

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam is designed to assess the English ability of people who intend to study or work where English is required. It measures a candidate's ability to communicate in English using all four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

LSAT

Law School Admission Council

The LSAT is a half-day standardized test required for admission to all 197 LSAC-member schools. It provides a standard measure of acquired reading and verbal reasoning skills that law schools can use as one of several factors in assessing applicants.

MRT

Math Readiness Test

The Math Readiness Test is no longer administered on the UA campus or used for placement into UA math courses.

MCAT

Medical College Admission Test

The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a standardized, multiple-choice examination designed to assess problem solving, critical thinking, and writing skills in addition to the examinee's knowledge of science concepts and principles prerequisite to the study of medicine. Medical college admission committees consider MCAT scores as part of their admission decision process.

Miller Analogies Test

The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a standardized test used primarily for graduate school admissions in the USA. The computer-based MAT is a high-level ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies.

MPRE

Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination

The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is assembled and administered by ACT, Inc., on behalf of the National Conference of Bar Examiners as partial fulfillment of the requirements for application for admission to practice law in jurisdictions that require the MPRE.

National Board of Professional Teaching Standards

National Board of Professional Teaching Standards The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards improves teaching and student learning. National Board Certified Teachers are highly accomplished educators who meet high and rigorous standards.

Ophthalmic Knowledge of Assessment Program

The Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) is an in-training ophthalmology examination.

PCAT

Pharmacy College Admission Test

The Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) is an exam that helps identify qualified applicants to pharmacy colleges.

Praxis Series

The Praxis Series is an Educational Testing Service (ETS) program that provides tests and other services for states to use as part of their teacher certification process. The Praxis Series assessments are also used by colleges and universities to qualify individuals for entry into teacher education programs.

SAT

Scholastic Aptitude Test

SAT I: Reasoning Test
The SAT I is a three-hour, primarily multiple-choice test that measures verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities that develop over time. Many colleges require SAT I scores for admission.

SAT II: Subject Tests
Subject Tests are one-hour, primarily multiple-choice tests that measure you knowledge of particular subjects and your ability to apply that knowledge. Check the requirements of the colleges you're considering. Many require or recommend one or more Subject Tests for admission or placement.

TOEFL

Test of English as a Foreign Language

The Test of English as a Foreign Language is offered by the UA Testing Office in computer-based and paper format. TOEFL is also available at PCC in paper format only.
