Application, payment, copy of passport, and passport sized photographs are all required by 5:00pm on the registration deadline for a candidate to be eligible to sit the exam.

Study Materials:

We have materials for both the Academic and General modules of the IELTS. It comes in two separate editions.

"Action Plan for IELTS" - published by Cambridge University Press. Both books (academic and general) contain:


- Last minute preparation familiarizes you quickly with the test. It covers each part of each paper in short units to help you improve your test technique and maximise your score.

- Practice test has a complete test for timed practice under test conditions.

- Self-study guide has a full answer key, including model answers and recording scripts.

- An audio cd

The materials are available in our office for $35.00. We can also send it to you via postal or federal express for an additional fee.

Test Formats:

Candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules. There is a choice between Academic and General Training in the Reading and Writing Modules. It is the responsibility of the candidate to tell the Administrator which version, Academic or General Training they need to take.

The tests are designed to cover the full range of ability from non-user to expert user.

The first three tests - Listening, Reading and Writing - must be completed in one day. No break is given between the three tests. The Speaking may be taken, at the discretion of the test center, in the period of seven days before or after the other three tests (this description has been provided by IELTS, 2007).



Total test time is: 2 hours 45 minutes.

Application Process:

Open and review IELTS INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES.

Go to the IELTS official website and register ONLINE.

FEES:

Payment of the US $170.00 Application Fee must be in the form of cash (only EXACT CHANGE), money order or cashiers check made payable to the University of Arizona. Credit cards, and debit cards are accepted, and are preferred.

PHOTOS:

You must supply two passport size fotos as part of your application. If you are looking for a convenient location to get those, you can visit the "University of Arizona Office of International Scholars". Their phone number is 626-6289 for more information.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION:

Your test registration will be confirmed by email using the email address you provide on the IELTS online application. Please check your email regularly. If an email address is not provided, confirmation will be made by fax or regular mail. There will then be a confirmation the week of the test which will include information about registration time, test location, and test type.

REQUIRED IDENTIFICATION:

A valid passport is REQUIRED and is the ONLY acceptable form of identification.

On the application for Testing, candidates must

1. Supply a valid passport number and
2. Attach a scanned copy or photocopy of the passport page containing the photo, number, and signature.

Passports are REQUIRED on test day. Be sure it is valid and it is the one you included in your application packet. You will need a second form of identification with your picture. Your passport is the only official proof of identity that is accepted in the United States. Driver's license, student ID, and other picture ID is used as secondary proof of identification only.

Candidates who do not bring their passport will not be permitted to take the test.

NOTE: Please be advised that if you have sent your passport to an institution for renewal or other reasons, it is your responsibility to ensure you have your passport with you on test day.

CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICIES:

Request for cancellation or changes regarding your test must be made via e-mail, letter or fax ONLY. Telephone cancellation or postponement will not be accepted.

Cancellation Policy

1. Cancellation more than 5 weeks (34 days) before the test date - You will receive a partial refund. An administrative fee of $40.00 will be retained by the Testing Office for cancellations made more than five weeks before the test date.
2. Cancellation fewer than 5 weeks ahead of the test date - NO refund will be issued. Failure to appear for the test without notification is considered a cancellation, NO refund will be issued, and you must re-apply if you wish to take the Exam on another date.

Change Policy

1. Changing Test Date at originally requested center. A request to change your test date at your original center must be made more than 5 weeks prior to the elected test date and you must submit an additional $40.00 administrative fee using cash, money order or cashiers check payable to University of Arizona.
2. Changing Test Location more than five weeks prior to test date. A request to change your test location more than 5 weeks prior to the elected test date will be treated like a cancellation and you will ONLY receive a partial refund. A $40.00 administrative fee will be deducted from the refund. You must submit a full, new test application to the new center of your choice.
3. Changes within 5 weeks of test date. Candidates who wish to make a change fewer than 5 weeks prior to the elected test date will be treated as a cancellation must re-apply and will receive NO refund.

Changes Due to Personal Hardship

Candidates seeking cancellation or transfer within the 5-week period prior to the test date may be entitled to a refund if they can provide evidence that their ability to sit for the test has been affected by serious illness or cause:

* Serious Illness - hospital admission or serious injury
* Loss or Bereavement - death of a close family member
* Hardship/Trauma - victim of a crime, victim of a traffic accident
* Military Service

Candidates must file an application for refund or transfer no later than five (5) working days after the test date. You must complete a Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form and attach appropriate documentation and/or evidence (i.e., certification from a qualified medical practitioner, a death notice or certificate, or police report). Approved candidates will receive a partial refund of their test fees. A $40 administrative fee will be deducted from the refund.

Refunds

All refunds, regardless of the method of payment, are paid by check and are mailed four to six weeks from the date of the request.
