MAT

The computer-based MAT is a high-level ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. It consists of 120 partial analogies that are to be completed in 60 minutes. Fluency in the English language, a broad knowledge of literature, philosophy, history, science, mathematics, and fine arts, and the ability to reason out relationships may contribute to the performance on the MAT. There is no foreign-language edition of the MAT. No one is permitted to use a dictionary or any other reference aid when taking the MAT. The following information is established by the University of Arizona Testing Office. For information regarding the MAT at a different institution please contact them directly.

Registration

Days and times of appointments vary throughout the semester. Please call our office at 621-7589 to check availability. Please note, in order for you to make an appointment you must pay the $140.00 fee (payable to UA). No exceptions.

Online Registration (NEW):

You can now register through the internet for your test! Read the important information carefully:
  • In order to register through the internet, you will be taken to the UA Bookstore website.
  • You will need to create an account on their website (it is very easy!).
Benefits:
  • You can register 24 hours a day, and reserve your spot for the test!
  • You don't need to come to Old Main anymore. The UA Bookstore will send you an email once your payment is processed and you will be able to print your admission ticket from your email.
  • You can purchase study materials through the bookstore.
